[Kain is still a little pale and sick-looking, but... he's alive.]
I've returned from true death twice now. I wonder whether this makes my luck better than average... or far worse.
[Worse for the dying in the first place, but better because... well, twice now he's faced what he thought was an eternal end for him, and come back both times. Kain pauses for a moment, gathering his thoughts. Going through death again reminds him though, of an important thing about what he saw.]
That dragon in the dream... I've encountered it before. All of Cosmos' warriors would have at the end of every cycle, whether they recall it or not. Its significance cannot be underestimated.

[The newly-developed spell flows through Kain's veins, the magic neutralizing the illness.]
You'll still need to rest off the damage it's done to you, but the illness is gone. You'll recover quickly.

The sooner I can finally get our of bed, the better.
Porom... we did each have to collect a Crystal, while we were fighting this war. They weren't elemental like the ones here, but... could they have had any similar influence?

[She takes that question rather in stride, the nature of the crystals is something she's not yet addressed with everyone, but it's not something that's strange to her.]
Even the memories that were stolen could have. That's what the crystals are - knowledge, memories and experiences, anything that could be considered to make us real, coalesced into a single point in time and space. Their element is a property that is taken on when the experiences of enough people who share an affinity with one element meet.

[Trailing off there a bit. Except for the six of them, he recalls it much more now, they were all already fading away at that point... But. There was someone still standing. The Warrior...]
Anyway, I didn't know it was possible, what you just did. Bringing me back like that... Has it ever been done before?
no subject
[She shakes her head.]
Not by anyone we want doing it. Until we retrieved you, drawing people back into the world using their memories was a power only the creator-
[And she stops herself, thinking.]
...the eidolons. Something similar happened when you want to retrieve the eidolons, did it not? They died, were reborn within the crystals and needed to be retrieved.

[Kain takes a moment, considering that other part.]
The creator? What are you saying, that this sort of revival has been done before by someone? [Kain frowns, thinking that over.] I'm not about to question it too much- were it not possible, I'd not be here now. But... there won't be any ill effects from doing so, will there?
no subject
[This takes a moment. As she speaks, she grows paler and paler as horror dawns.]
This is exactly how the creator restored people to face us on the moon, he drew their experiences out of the crystals and used them to recreate them. The archfiends and Rubecante's pet madman... your old comrade, Baigan...
...I don't know if there'll be any ill effects. But those who were revived by the creator before were revived under his control. They... [She was going to finish that sentence 'begged us to kill them again' but she can't quite bring herself to say it, shuddering instead.]
...don't leave Terra's side, once you leave the town. Don't separate from her until we know you're safe, not under any circumstances. I'll warn her.

[He frowns, and perhaps grows a little shade paler at what she's saying next.]
Recreated? Am I even... [No, that's a preposterous question, of course he's actually alive now. Right? Of course. He feels alive, he's breathing, he has a heartbeart.] ...Am I truly Kain Highwind or am I now only some imitation of him? Am I suddenly going to die again anyway, or worse, become yet someone else's pawn...
[Ok, he is going to look stubbornly away so she can't see the fear in his eyes.]
...I'll stay with her. I give my word.
no subject
...I can't answer all those questions fully, but- I can tell you that you are Kain Highwind's memories, experiences and knowledge. Since you had the injuries that killed you when you awoke, I'd wager you have Kain Highwind's body. If you are an imitation, you are as close an imitation as there will ever be, and the original no longer exists. Nothing about you should cause you another untimely death, other than your ego. But as for being controlled-
-just stay with Terra. I'll tell you more when I know more. If there is some spell on you that I can't detect then we'll break it.

[Kain feels an intense Brooding coming on. He stares down for a long time. He hopes she's right, that being Kain in mind and body means he truly is the person he believes himself to be.]
Yes, keep me informed. I couldn't bear it, if I were to be controlled again...

If anything happens, we'll deal with it. We won't allow any harm to be done.

[Kain doesn't want to die again, either, and though he knows it might be necessary one day... he hopes to avoid it.]
