[Okay. Trying again. Telling the great sage that you are an instructor of that thing he is kind of famed for, even if this is apparently not really the great sage, is kind of terrifying.]

-my brother teaches black magic. Teaching white magic is among my duties.

I am the instructor in Black Magic. My sister, Porom, is the one specializing in White Magic.

And may I ask who you are?

I seem to have lost what command of black magic I had, so I would see you about learning what I might.

So, you wish to relearn Black Magic? What spells do you wish to know?

I'd start with what I knew. The different levels of Fire, Thunder, Blizzard. [A small smile, though what he finds amusing is hard to tell.] Perhaps Toad.

[Palom grins. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad after all.]

Well, naturally. I bet Porom would be glad to take in some students of her own, if she decides to, that is.

I bet that's likely, too. Someone I spoke to mentioned losing white magic, as well. He didn't look old enough to be a Sage, though.

That's what I thought, too. He looks too young to be the great sage Minwu.

[The black mage frowns a bit.]

How did things go over at the Feymarch?

We're on our way there, now. I should find out what's happening within soon enough.

Well, so far everything's fine here. I'm just hoping that Porom and I can help the newcomers in any way we can, instead of sitting around and doing nothing.

[After a while, Porom returns from the prayer tower.]

The Lunar Whale still isn't reacting to prayers. I'm not sure it's even there.

[Palom lets out a sigh, crossing his arms.]

I was afraid of that. At least the crystal's safe, for the time being.

If Cuore claims that her father is behind this, it's likely that our answers lie on the moon. Until the Lunar Whale rises-

For now, we should focus on making sure everything's in order, like getting the newcomers a place to stay and helping them in any way we can.

We should make some kind of barrier to the crystal room or something.

...there's not really any way to, not without blocking off the way to the prayer tower. But if worst comes to worst, I'll be able to seal the building.

That's good. We can only hope that the others can return to us and protect the other crystals.

[Puts his hands behind his head and leans against a wall.]

Rydia said she'd hoped to find something at the Feymarch, due to her summon magic not working. I'm betting it's the cause of the moon that's doing this.

Looks like I might have to seek help from one of you? I'm no stranger to magic, but the way it's used here is a lot different from how it was done in my home world. I've already managed to figure out healing, but I want to make sure I haven't missed anything!

Where I come from, magic isn't natural, for most people. We have to use materia to cast spells of any kind, but here, magic is inherent, isn't it?

Magic can be used by certain people here. Before that, everyone could use it. However, the great sage put a stop to that.

[Even though the man wearing a turban isn't the great sage.]

Materia? What is that?

Crystallized mako energy, or at least that's the official definition. In it is the knowledge of those who walked our planet before us... that's what they say, anyway.

You say you can use crystals to cast magic? That's interesting...

So, are you looking to learn some magic spells?

I am! I can heal, but there's more to white magic than that, isn't there?

There is, if you prefer sliencing your enemies, or driving your allies berserk. But, then again, my sister may help you more on that. I am an expert on Black Magic.
